The Places I Would Love to Travel to in 2022

19 January 2022

Well, it’s a new year again and hopefully, it will be a slightly more normal one than the last couple of years and we will be able to travel more again and explore new places.

I really love to travel, both in the UK and abroad when I get the chance so I am hoping this year I will finally get to go abroad again, but I would also love to see more of the UK.

There are some places in particular that I would really love to visit this year – some are new places I haven’t been before, and others are places I have been and loved.

The Places I Would Love to Travel to in 2022

Cornwall

I have always loved Cornwall so much and have been numerous times over my lifetime, but I haven’t been for years. The last time I went was when my daughter was 2 (she’s now ten!) and we went with family and their dog and stayed in a little cottage. We had such an amazing time and we were incredibly lucky with the weather – it was like being abroad – and it was such a fantastic and memorable holiday.

I would really love to go back this year and it would be so much fun to go with our dog now we have one. It would be brilliant to visit all the gorgeous beaches with her (where dogs are allowed, of course) and wander around the pretty villages and just explore. I’d love to stay in some kind of cottage again, or I do also really like staying in a static caravan in Cornwall and there are loads of sites all around the area – when I was younger we often stayed in one in Newquay and it was always so much fun.

Spain

Logrono, Spain

I really fell in love with Spain and saw such a different side to the ‘package holiday’ type of Spain when we travelled through it in our car on our honeymoon. We absolutely loved Seville, Logrono and San Sebastian and I would adore to be able to go back again as soon as possible.

I feel like Spain is perfect for us, as we both love wine, cheese, cured meats and tapas, and so they were a very big part of our travels there. We love the language and we’ll hopefully find the time to learn someday and I hope I get to spend many more times there over my lifetime.

My daughter and I, in Logrono

Portugal

Another one from our honeymoon, we have been to Portugal a few times now and love it. We love the more typical ‘beach’ holiday as well as the cities such as Porto and I would love to do both again as soon as possible.

With Porto, I loved that we could explore the beautiful city one day and then head to the beach the next. It is such a beautiful city and so vibrant and I can’t wait to go again. Last time we stayed at a gorgeous apartment with the cutest little balcony and it was perfect.

We also went with family to the Algarve in Portugal a few years ago and had a great holiday and I would love to do the same thing again and rent a villa. It works so well when there are lots of you; you get your own space but have a pool to use and can take it in turns to cook or go out for dinner.

Greece

I have wanted to go to some Greek islands for years now. The whitewashed buildings against the backdrop of the crystal clear, aqua-blue waters appeal to me so much.

I’d also really love to go back to Paleokastritsa in Corfu – I went there on holiday with my boyfriend as a teenager (now my husband!) and we had the best time. It was such a beautiful little place, with incredible blue-green waters and amazing, fresh seafood at restaurants looking out over the sea, and I’d love to see what it’s like now – I really hope it hasn’t changed too much but I suspect it will have done.

Corfu

Aruba

I’ve never been to Aruba or the Caribbean at all but I would absolutely love to go. Aruba has a dry climate so the sun is always shining and it has one of the top 10 beaches in the world! I’d love to spend long days on the beach as well as visiting the sites such as Arikok National Park and hiking through the Guadirikiri Caves.

The people are apparently really friendly and welcoming, and we could have such a relaxing and fun holiday there, with amazing and healthy food, stunning beaches, and wonderful weather.

New York

I’ve been to New York before and I loved it as much as I hoped I would – I would love to go back, and think it would be so much fun to go back as a family, exploring and wandering the city. I know we won’t be going there this year but I would love to go again as soon as we can.

Where would you love to travel to this year? Do you think you will still stick to the UK for now with Covid still about?
