When is the Best Time to Visit St. John?

27 March 2023

It’s time to plan your next family vacation. This time, you’ve decided that you want to go someplace tropical. Somewhere like St. John which is an island in the Caribbean sea and one of the Virgin Islands – the smallest of all of them, with its National Park occupying more than half of the beautiful island.

It is known for its beautiful white-sand beaches where you can swim in the clear waters, spend time hiking the mountains and exploring the National Park with its many exotic bird species, see dolphins and turtles and so much more.

When is the best time for you to go, though? Yes, you could put “best time to visit St. John villa“ into a search engine, but we’re here to help save you both the time and effort.

You Want to Avoid Hurricane Season if You Can

The peak time to go to St. John is usually between Mid-December to April – locals call this the High Season. It might be harder to find a villa since that is the time that most people tend to book. But you also want to avoid any potential travel or safety issues due to hurricanes, which usually happen in September but can also happen in August or October.

You can cover yourself by getting travel insurance if you do decide to go during the hurricane season. Check the terms but you may possibly get a sizable portion of your travel costs back. This will be a time when it’s better to have insurance and not need it rather than having a disaster and not having it.

The Low Season

There are times when there might be more of a lull in terms of bookings. Locals refer to this as the Low Season and it runs from Mid-April to December. That can mean that you will have a much better chance of getting favourable bookings and paying lower prices for their rentals.

One of the reasons for the lower tourist turnout during those months is that it’s much warmer in months like June, July, and August. Much of the United States is already hot during those months and those temperatures wouldn’t make much of a difference. They might still be lured by the crystal clear waters, though.

Overall, though, the temperatures are usually very inviting. You also need to go by your schedule, since you may have to plan around school holidays.

You should also see if there are any particular activities that you want to do when you are visiting St. John. There may also be musical events that you can see. It’s all about having fun and creating memories.

Whatever time of year you go, you want to make sure that you pack everything that you need for your trip. Then you can focus on having a great time with your family in the tropics at St. John.
